Address

In the address section make sure you put your home address as this is the correspondence address which will be used by UCAS even in the school holidays (unless, due to special circumstances, you want all UCAS correspondence to go to your boarding house).

Finance

Do not put "01 Private" unless you are absolutely sure you do not qualify for any LEA funding. In the majority of cases you should put 02 LEA. If you are in any doubt, speak to your Housemaster. There's a short pop-up questionnaire you can do to establish your fee code.

Nationality

If you have dual nationality you should type one nationality in the Nationality box, and then tick the Dual Nationality box and at that point insert the second nationality.

Qualifications

Please check these very carefully, as they are not checked again by the school and it may jeopardize your application if they are found to be incorrect when UCAS or the university run their own checks.

Personal Statement

This must be absolutely accurate before it is submitted. As there is no spell check or grammar check in the UCAS software we strongly advise you to type the text into a Word document and then paste it into the form. Make sure it has been read by AT LEAST two other people before you submit the form.

Also:

  • Avoid tabs at all costs - they do not convert properly into the UCAS software.
  • Ensure there are no unnecessary carriage returns at the top or bottom of your statement.
  • There is no formatting, eg bold or italics, and neither are there any accents permitted in foreign languages. Make sure they have converted properly if you do use them.
  • Remember to use double inverted commas for quotes and singles for titles - and then make sure they're converted properly when pasted into the UCAS form.
